Being more confident means taking risks, having more courage, being open to possibilities and having an optimistic outlook on life. Confidence is a powerful word and also an even stronger feeling. Do you recall a time when you were extremely confident? Did you know what an impact your confidence had on the way you carried yourself and the way others treated you?

If you can only think of one thing that would help you to be more confident right now it should be this: “I am confident because I am telling you I am confident.” This is a simple but powerful statement that conveys much more than just a feeling of being in control. When you say this you are using body language similar to the question inflection I suggested earlier. Body language is very powerful. The way you hold yourself in the posture you take, your facial expression and even the words you use with your voice all indicate messages you are sending to the universe about who you are and how you feel.

You may have noticed that confident people walk or move with an air of confidence. This is because they know what they want and how to get it. They appear to have self-esteem. A confident person also uses body language in the same way as the confident. They may glance away from the person they are talking to, or look down at their feet when conversing with someone who appears to be taking them for granted.

Now here is another example of how to be more confident. How do you feel confident right now? Do you feel like you could walk into any room and feel at ease? Do you feel like you were able to accomplish just about anything you put your mind to? Well, you are feeling confident. In fact, you may have unconsciously said this while speaking and actions speak louder than words ever could.

An action step to learn how to be more confident is to look at your biological motion. What is it that gives you the sense of confidence that you are looking at? If it is your biological motion then you need to do something to change that.

One great tip is to look like you have confidence. If you look like you slouch, or have poor posture, or have your hands behind your back, you may have lost that confident feeling that was there before. You can change your body language and look like a million dollars with very little effort.

You must also believe in yourself more than you think you do. This is the foundation for having self-esteem. The reason we don’t feel good about ourselves is because we believe we are not good enough. When you believe you are worth something, you will begin to feel good about yourself every day. When you begin to believe in yourself, you will find that your self-esteem grows, your confidence grows, and your body language changes.
